Some of you are in a warm climate, but where I live the weather is setting records for low temperatures and for the amount of snow.  I was just reading the pointers from the South Dakota Office of Emergency Management for travel over the holidays.  All of these apply to those of us who are in cold climates but some can apply to those of you in warm climates.

The article states:

     Watch out for others.

     Slow down.

Move over when people are on the shoulder.

Pay attention to how you are driving.

Be aware of the vehicles around you.

The article says to plan ahead:

Keep an eye on the weather and check travel conditions before hitting the road.

Be prepared to change travel plans as weather conditions warrant.

Call 511 or visit the website TravelUSA.com for road conditions.

     Travel during the day.

Use highly traveled roads and highways.

Keep family and friends informed of your travel schedule and path.

Dress in layers and make sure you have a hat, gloves or mittens, and boots on you or in the car.  A monogrammed baby gift like a baby sweatsuit is ideal for a baby to wear, as things can be worn under it and a coat can be worn over it.  The hood can be snuggly tied over the head.

Take a survival kit:

A cell phone that is fully charged.

Blankets, water, nonperishable food, a flashlight with new or fully charged batteries, a distress flag, a shovel.

Sand bags are helpful if you have a rear wheel drive vehicle.

baby bath robe

I remember when I was little and when our children were little and we received a new robe for Christmas.  We loved the feel of it, because in December it is cold here.  It was a gift that didn’t have to be a perfect size.  The robe was always purchased to be a little big and then was worn for several years.  I remember seeing pictures of me in a robe when it was to the floor and then pictures where it was to my knees.

The same can go for a baby bath robe.  A little one can wear the robe for a long time.  It can be used after a bath when they are very little and then just as a comfy robe as they are toddling around.  With no buttons, they can put it on and off by themselves.  Of course, the monogrammed baby bathrobe feels like luxury as the washable terry cloth is so soft.

Now that both of our grandchildren have received their Thanksgiving gifts, I can write about it.  I ordered the personalized layered T-Shirts that are found in the personalized baby gifts section with their first name on the front.  I chose the pink shirts and had their names put on with red lettering.  They look so cute with little jeans.  I ordered the T-shirts in sizes 2T and 3T since our granddaughters are 1 1/2 and 2 3/4.  I wanted to make sure they wouldn’t be too small.

Since the T-shirt material isn’t real heavy, the shirts are perfect for this time of year and since both of them live in warmer climates than I do.  I had the personalized baby T-shirts delivered to their homes so that I didn’t have to mail them.  I also put in a personal note to each one of the little girls.

The T-shirts can also be a monogrammed baby gift as the initials of the baby can be put on the shirt instead of their first name.  There are also different colors of threads that can be used and the baby T-shirt comes in blue also.

First Birthday Gifts

First Birthday Gifts

Here are a few ideas for baby’s first birthday gifts:

~Personalized Baby Bracelets; these unique items come in silver, gold, or other metallic colors and can be personalized for a little one.

~Stuffed Animals; the infant will start to recognize shapes and colors at this age, stuffed animals serve as cuddle companions and lovable friends who the baby will remember.

~Cribs; the infant will usually be out of the basinet at this age, so a crib is great for a growing baby if mom and dad don’t already have one.

~Strollers; babies are on the go past age 1, often not quite walking, but certainly crawling around, and loving to explore and travel.

We have winds blowing here and a little snow.  I’m not complaining though because there are places that received 43 inches of snow.  If they have the winds we have, they are snowed in at home.  I did get an e-mail from a mother who is staying in because of the winds.  She was looking for personalized baby gifts for her baby for the upcoming Thanksgiving.

With all indications it will probably be chilly to cold on Thanksgiving, so she is going with the monogrammed baby gift that is the ultimate sweatsuit.  She is going to put a neutral body suit under it so that the jacket can be taken off IF it does get warm.  She liked the idea that the sweatsuit was brown because her baby is crawling and she feels that it won’t show every bit of dirt he picks up on his knees as he crawls.

She is going with the monogrammed letter of his first name and is going with the blue trim.  She said she would send me a picture of the baby sweatsuit on her child when she receives it.

Baby Bath Time Safety

October 27, 2008 Author: BabyGotGifts

baby bath robeBath time can be fun for both babies and parents (unless you don’t like getting splashed).  However, parents should also be conscientious of a few safety guidelines.  First and foremost, never leave your baby unattended in the bath, many infants drown each year due to this common and seemingly helpless mistake.  Second, test the water temperature with your wrist to ensure it is not too hot.  Third, remember to keep the room warm and draft free so your baby does not get cold after bathing.

Having bathing supplies like a baby bath robe, towels, clothes, and baby shampoo assembled and at the ready will make bathing your baby as hassle-free as possible.  Also ensure the phone is in the room and within arm’s reach so you don’t have to take attention off your baby to answer it.

I had requests for personalized baby gifts in the form of a personalized T-shirt.  Just when I found the one I wanted, I had a question if the T-shirts could be personalized with the name of a school or team mascot.  My answer is, “Of course they can!”  One creative person chose the blue T-shirt and put the school mascot name of “JAYS” on the front since his daddy is the coach of the JAYS.  What a hit that shirt will be at the couples baby shower when the coach sees it!

There’s a Chill in the Air!

monogrammed baby sweater

I don’t know what the weather is like where you live but where I live it is chilly right now.  I was at a coffee and all the talk was about bringing out the sweaters.  This also goes for the little ones.  Taking a sweater along to a game or to the park is so easy to do as the sweaters don’t wrinkle and they wash up so nicely.

Giving a monogrammed baby gift like a monogrammed sweater is such a good idea as they can wear it for years.  The personalization on the sweater sets it apart from other sweaters.  Also, the monogram keeps it from being lost.  You will have it returned to you as they know who it belongs to.

The Ultimate Sweatsuit

baby sweat suit

I don’t know if everyone wishes they had a favorite sweatsuit, but I know I do.  I picture it generously sized, soft, durable, and in a fashionable color.  A monogram wouldn’t be a bad idea, either, so it wouldn’t mysteriously disappear from the laundry hamper or get “adopted” by anyone else without my permission.

Has Good to Go Baby Gifts been reading my mind?  The only thing different from my imagination of the ultimate sweatsuit is the size!  This would be the perfect traveling or lazy-day outfit for your little pumpkin.  With fall on its way, the chocolate-brown color is perfect.  This suit can be customized with the initial of your choice and you may choose from piping in blue, pink, or white.
