twin baby gift basket

I was just reading an article in my local paper about a family who has triplets.  This family loved having the triplets.  The mother stated that even at 2 weeks old the triplets sought one another.  The mother goes on to say, “I would have them parallel in the crib and they would always scoot so their heads would touch.”  The mother said, “As toddlers they were always together.”  and she states that even now “They always finish each other’s sentences.”

How can you have triplets?  The article stated that there is a possibility when there are multiple births on one side of the family and a probability when there are multiple births on both sides of the family.  Using fertility drugs also makes women prime candidates to have multiple births.

So, these are the “mom facts” about triplets.  I’m sure scientific research will either agree with or dispute the “mom facts.”  Getting a twin baby gift basket for triplets and then adding your personal touches is an easy baby gift to solve the triplet newborn baby gift problem.

Baby Bath Time Safety

October 27, 2008 Author: BabyGotGifts

baby bath robeBath time can be fun for both babies and parents (unless you don’t like getting splashed).  However, parents should also be conscientious of a few safety guidelines.  First and foremost, never leave your baby unattended in the bath, many infants drown each year due to this common and seemingly helpless mistake.  Second, test the water temperature with your wrist to ensure it is not too hot.  Third, remember to keep the room warm and draft free so your baby does not get cold after bathing.

Having bathing supplies like a baby bath robe, towels, clothes, and baby shampoo assembled and at the ready will make bathing your baby as hassle-free as possible.  Also ensure the phone is in the room and within arm’s reach so you don’t have to take attention off your baby to answer it.

Managing Baby’s Things

Personalized tote bags

New mothers have their hands full finding storage and managing all of the things babies use on a daily basis.  There are several options to help in dealing with baby’s things being scattered and unorganized.  For the home, stackable plastic storage containers are great for keeping toys, bedding and blankets, and even clothes organized.  In addition, a set of plastic removable drawers is cost effective and provides easy access to the contents inside.

For mothers on the go, it’s wise to carry a tote bag to ensure you have all baby supplies at the ready.  Personalized tote bags in large sizes are great for keeping everything in order and ensuring your bag doesn’t get mixed up with another or lost.

Blankets, blankets, blankets

monogrammed baby blanket

We can all tell when it gets chilly, as the talk turns to warmer things like blankets.  I did have a question today that stumped me.  I was asked where we got the word “blanket,”  so I went to find out on the internet.  There were two answers.

One said that it is speculated that the name “blanket” was derived from Edmund Blanket, a 14th Century clothier who was also a member of the Parliament of Bristol.  The other speculation was that the word “blanket” came from the word “blanc” or white which is of Germanic origin.

Either way, we are thinking of blankets and more specifically we are thinking of baby blankets like the monogrammed baby blanket that I offer.  Babies love blankets, but do we ever grow out of it?  I still love a cozy blanket and just put a heavier one on my bed last night, as the temperatures dipped below freezing!

RECALL ON CRIBS!

October 24, 2008 Author: BabyGifter

I first heard about the recall on Delta cribs this week so I went to ”Delta crib recall” on my computer to find out the specifics.  The bottom line is—–If you have a Delta crib, go to the site IMMEDIATELY and check to see if the crib you have your child in has a recall.  Even if you don’t have a Delta crib, read over the precautions that they give about ANY crib.  You can’t be too cautious when it comes to the safety of your child.

My hands are shaking right now as I read the article on line.  If I can save one baby from harm, that is the best baby gifts I can give to you!  Please check out the crib of your baby!

Stress Busters

October 23, 2008 Author: BabyGifter

unique baby giftsIt seems like everytime I hear from a young mother, she is stressed.  I read an article by Holly St. Lifer that lists seven stress relievers.

1.  You already know that walking and exercising lowers your stress level but did you know that repeating a positive phrase like “I love my life.” or “I am in control.” while walking can help you chill even more?  Why?  Repeating the words over and over focuses you on that positive thought and other “I’m so stressed out.” thoughts get pushed out.

2.  You already know that vegging out in front of the TV only gives a temporary relief from stress but did you know that dancing or exercising while moving to music (even at home in front of the TV) can help to boost your mood and keep you there?  It help to reduce those feel-good endorphins which lowers your anxiety by reducing the amount of stress hormones in your body.

3.  You already know that venting to your husband can give you relief from stress but did you know that 10 minutes of hugging your husband gives a long range relief from stress?  Hugging releases oxytocin, a hormone that lowers your blood pressure.

4.  You already know that eating a pint of rocky road ice cream gives you a temporary fix on your stress but did you know that “healthy fats” like walnuts will help you more?  Have one scoop of your favorite ice cream and put on walnuts.  They release the stress soothing serotonin and are loaded with omege-3 fatty acids, another known mood enhancer.

5.  You know that cleaning the house makes you feel better but did you know that putting things back in their correct places is an even better “stress buster?”  The reason is because it relieves tension by giving you a feeling of control and a sense of accomplishment.

6.  You already know that “retail therapy” makes you feel better for the minute (or when the bills come) but did you know that splurging on something soothing can make you even feel better?  If you are going to spend money, put it toward something truly calming like a massage, as it relaxes muscles and lowers blood pressure and heart rate.

7.  You already have called up your friend to gripe and it made you feel better but did you know that journaling your gripes can be even more comforting?  Why?  When you journal, you do not have to be cautious about what you write and that gives you freedom.  It gives you a chance to re-read your gripes and to focus on what is really causing the stress and how you can overcome it.

Knowing that you are giving your babies the unique baby gifts of a CALM, STRESS-FREE mother can be a stress-buster itself.

baby giftsAccording to the Real Age website, when you grab a pumpkin for your fall porch this year, grab one for your plate, too.

Why? Two really good reasons: Pumpkin makes an incredibly rich and flavorful base for all sorts of soups, stews, and desserts and it’s absolutely packed with blood-pressure-friendly nutrients.

Halloween Help for Your Heart
Pumpkin flesh is crammed full of phenols — a type of health-promoting antioxidant that’s found in many plant-based foods. But pumpkin phenols may have particularly body-kind qualities. In cell studies, phenols from pumpkin flesh put a damper on the same enzyme that some blood pressure drugs target to reduce vascular tension. In other words, the phenols in pumpkin may help keep blood vessels relaxed, which means better blood pressure and better heart health.

Save the Seeds
When you scoop out your pumpkin, save the seeds so you can roast them. Pumpkin seeds are rich in a healthy fat (alpha-linolenic aicd) that also helps protect blood vessels.

No time to cook fresh pumpkin? No problem. Use canned pureed pumpkin. It’s precooked, tastes great, and is just as good for you.  Cooking pumpkin seems to enhance its phenolic properties.

The best baby gifts from you to your babies are being a healthy person so that you can care for your baby and be there when they need you.

Is Voting in Your Blood?

October 21, 2008 Author: BabyGifter

unique baby giftsAccording to an article by Abigail Cuffey, if you go to the polls on November 4, it may be due to your genetics.  Researchers from the University of California, San Diego, discovered a connection between certain genes and the drive to take part in community activities, such as elections.  “The study suggests there is an inherited personality trait that influences whether we participate in politics,” says study author James Fowler, professor of political science.  However, he goes on to say that your choice to vote Democrat, Republican, etc. is more influenced by what you learned at your parent’s knee.

So, give your children unique baby gifts by voting (genes or not) in this next very important election which is November 4.    Note:  The picture on this page is of women voting in 1917 in the state of New York.

One-of-a-kind Blankets

October 19, 2008 Author: BabyGifter

personalized baby giftsThere are so many creative people out there that it never ceases to amaze me.  One e-mail asked me about ordering plain blankets that she could put her own designs on.  Well, I’ve got them.  They are in light pink and light blue and washable.  The ones she bought before in a discount store were of lower quality and just did not stand up to repeated washings  She is putting team names, holiday themes, etc. on them for personalized baby gifts.  I only hope that she sends me a picture of the finished blankets!  The blankets are an immediate ship so she has them already and has plenty of time to get them finished before the holidays.

Put On Your Mary Janes!

October 18, 2008 Author: BabyGifter

I just talked to a young mother in a shoe store who was getting ready for the holidays ahead.  She was looking for Mary Jane shoes for her baby girl.  That brought back a lot of memories from when I was little and from when my daughter was little.  I remembered seeing a Mary Jane baby gift basket so decided to put it on my website.  It is one of the cutest baby girl gift baskets that I have seen and it has the Mary Jane socks!
